The Indian squad T20I squad for India’s next series against West Indies was announced at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, ahead of the much-awaited Day-Night Test between India and Bangladesh.
To begin from December 6, it will feature three T20Is and an equal number of ODIs. Rohit Sharma, the limited-overs vice-captain, has played continuously in the calendar year and featured in as many as 25 ODIs and 11 T20Is. He features along with Virat Kohli. The focus will also be on Shikhar Dhawan, who has been included. Dhawan has not been in such a good form since his return from injury post the World Cup 2019.
Against Bangladesh, Dhawan got starts in the three T20Is but there were no significant scores. KL Rahul, however, performed well against Bangla Tigers. Following the hat-trick against Bangladesh, Deepak Chahar has been rewarded by being picked up for both formats.
Others who figure in both the squads are Shivam Dube, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, and Shivam Dube. Rishabh Pant also finds a place in both the squads, despite the fact Sanju Samson is knocking on the selectors’ doors.
Making a comeback is Bhuvneshwar Kumar. While Washington Sundar finds a place in the T20I squad, Kedhar Jadhav gets a place in ODIs. Not finding a place in either of the squads is Krunal Pandya.
The T20 series will be played in Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram, and Hyderabad from Dec 6- Dec 11. They will be followed by ODIs to be played from December 15-22 in Chennai, Vizag, and Cuttack.
