India’s Golden Opportunity To Win Their 1st Test Series In SA: Harbhajan Singh

India will face South Africa in 3 Test matchups, 3 ODIs, and 4 T20Is. India’s experienced spinner, Harbhajan Singh stated before the beginning of the Test series that India had a great chance at defeating SA. He believes that the current South African squad is not as ruthless as it was a few years ago and that the visitors have the potential to command the game.

Team India has put forward some encouraging results in the longest format in recent years. India thrashed Australia twice at home and took a 2-1 lead versus England well before the Test series was called off because of the COVID pandemic in the Indian camp.

This is India’s best chance to win because South Africa’s batting isn’t great: Harbhajan

As a result, the team’s confidence will be strong as they approach the match versus the SA. India has won only 3 of the 20 Tests it has faced in South Africa. Especially considering the team’s previous international performance, Singh expects India to succeed.

I believe this is India’s golden opportunity to win their first Test series in South Africa. If we look at their team, it is not as strong as it used to be. Even in the last tour, players like AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis… those guys never allowed India to win there. Although India has played well there, they have never won a series and this is their best chance because their batting isn’t great,” said Harbhajan.

India won its maiden Test match in the country in 2006, defeating South Africa by 123 runs in Durban. Meanwhile, the visitors had already lost the series 1-2. Following that, in 2010-11, the hosts ended up winning the first Test, backed by India’s 87-run triumph in the 2nd. However, a tie in the 3rd Test brought the series to a close at 1-1. India also lost 0-1 in 2013-14, and the pattern resumed in 2018, however, the visitors closed the series on a high note with a 63-run triumph in Johannesburg.
