As per a report on Sports Tak, the Indian players would leave for the UK as early as the last week of May, instead of the first week of June. The same report further states that the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) is in talks with the UK government for the same.
The International Cricket Council, Sports Today understands, is in talks with the UK government and the England and Wales Cricket Board to make sure India cricketers travel to the UK. While a 14-day quarantine period is mandatory, it remains to be seen if Indian players will be allowed to train during that period once they’re tested negative of COVID-19.
India Will Leave For England Tour And WTC Finals By End Of This Month
It has been learned that the Kohli-led side might leave for England around the month-end amid the travel restrictions due to the second wave of novel coronavirus.
The report also added that The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to name the final squad for the World Test Championship final against New Zealand sooner than expected to make sure that government permissions are granted for the travel and quarantine guidelines.
India will be playing WTC finals on June 18 followed by 5 match Test series between India and England starting from August 4th. Tour will continue till 14th September 2021. The Indian team will be in the UK for a good 2-month tour pre-T20I World Cup. BCCI has confirmed that India will go with a jumbo squad with subject to use cases of injuries and the COVID-19.
India will be aiming to win the Maiden World Test Championship competition and make history.
