India vs Bangladesh : Mahmudullah May Hopefully Be Back On The Field On The Third Day

Mahmudullah, the all-round player in Bangladesh team, has batted in 91 innings in Test matches and scored 2739 runs at an average of 31.85 and a strike rate of 53.40 and bowled in 64 innings for an average of 45.19 at a strike rate of 78.77.

As the 2nd Day-Night Test between India and Bangladesh is ongoing at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on the 3rd-day, India is leading by 89 runs. Virat Kohli batted well to score 136 runs in 194 balls with a strike of 70.10. Right now, Bangladesh is trailing by 89 runs.

On Saturday, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) media manager Rabeed Imam said he was hopeful that Mahmudullah would be back to bat on the third day after he had to retire hurt due to a hamstring injury.

Bangladesh pace bowler Al Amin Hossain said that they would be eyeing to avoid an innings defeat. Al Amin said, “Batting the first 30 overs is very difficult. There are swing and bounce in the first 30 overs. When the ball becomes wet, there was nothing much in the field. We could not pass the stage in the first innings. We still need 90 runs to avoid an innings defeat. We all will try to make India bat in the second innings.”

Al Amin also noted that Bangladesh was lagging behind India in terms of experience which according to him is a key factor. “I think we are playing more number of T20Is and ODIs and because of that we are doing well in those formats,” he pointed out. “But we play fewer Test matches. A few months ago we just played against Afghanistan but India is just playing Test matches. I think the more Test matches we will play, the better we will perform,” he added.
