India To Play Its First-Ever Day-Night Test Against Bangladesh In Kolkata

India will play its first-ever day-night Test with Bangladesh in the second match of the series starting November 22, PTI quoted BCCI President Sourav Ganguly. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday agreed to the BCCI’s proposal for pink-ball cricket.

The BCB announced this decision after it had a meeting with its senior players. Earlier, Sourav Ganguly said that day-night Tests were a crucial part of his agenda and added that captain Virat Kohli was also willing to play them.

Ganguly said, “It’s a good development. Test cricket needs this push. Me and my team were bent on it and thanks to Virat (Kohli) also, he agreed.”

He added, “We all are thinking about this and we will do something about it. I am a firm believer in Day-Night Tests. I don’t know when will that happen. But till the time I am around, I will be pushing for it.”

Meanwhile, the BCCI is also planning to felicitate the country’s Olympics heroes on the occasion.

Ganguly stated, “We want to invite and have plans to felicitate Mary Kom, Sindhu and all (great Olympians). We are just waiting for the BCB’s confirmation at the moment. There are also plans to bring in school children, providing them free passes for the game.”

Australia and New Zealand played the first-ever day-night Test match at the Adelaide Oval in November 2015.
