India squad for South Africa series
BCCI has announced the all-format squads of team India for the upcoming big tour to South Africa, starting December 10.
The question of whether Rohit Sharma can captain the team in Twenty20 Internationals has generated a lot of discussion after India’s heartbreaking defeat in the World Cup final recently.
There were many reports circulated that the experienced campaigner may opt to bid adieu the shortest version of the game, and the mystery around this question still continues as the hitman has decided to not play the T20 format during the big South Africa tour.
Apart from Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli will also miss the white-ball leg, as both the senior players have requested the BCCI to give them rest during the white-ball series.
Suryakumar Yadav, who is leading the team in the ongoing T20I series against Australia, will lead the team in the shortest format during the South Africa tour also.
KL Rahul has been appointed as the ODI skipper for the tour, while Rohit Sharma will lead the side in test games.
Ravindra Jadeja will be the vice-captain for the T20 series, while the medium pacer Deepak Chahar made the cut in white ball series.
Rinku Singh has been selected for the one-day series as well due to brilliant finishing skills. While Sai Sudharsan also received a maiden call-up for the ODIs.
Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreays Iyer have been included in the test side, while experienced Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane left out from the squad.
