Ind Vs WI: Rahul Opines On The Usual Performance Of A Player

Indian cricketer KL Rahul, who is in headlines, spoke about his position in Team India. Usually, for any player, sticking and maintaining his place in a team is filled with struggles. In every sport, a player has to perform and play the game well. They have a unique style and are responsible for their performances.

Between these things, if a player is said to be away from the game for some time and then continues to play again, then it will be difficult for him. In the same context, India opener KL Rahul admitted that it’s difficult to be at peace when one’s place in the national team is not settled but says he has learned to find happiness in his batting rather than in thinking about his spot in the team.

On Wednesday, Rahul scored a half-century by hitting 91 in the third T20 International. It was his very supporting role in the ground that helped India register a victory against West Indies.

KL Rahul was not a choice opener, but he played in that position because the usual opener Shikhar Dhawan, who had an injury, was ruled out.

“I won’t say I don’t feel it (pressure) at all. Going in and out of the team is never easy on any player, you take a bit of time to get used to the international pressure and oppositions and there is no opposition where you can just walk in and score runs, so it’s always difficult,” Rahul told reporters.

“You can only hope (for being in the team). For me what’s in my control is to keep putting up these performances whenever I get the opportunity, and I am not at that stage where I worry about whether I’ll find myself playing the next tournament or anything (like that),” said the Karnataka player.

“Whenever I get the opportunity, I want to win games for my team and be out there in the middle and enjoy my batting. That’s the place that I get most happiness right now being in the middle and hitting the ball from the middle of the bat, so whenever that opportunity comes, I’ll like to grab and enjoy it,” he added.

The right-handed batsman said he tried to be in flow even when he is out of the team.

When asked how he handles disappointment when he is out of the team, Rahul said he never complicated his thoughts and just focused on his game to keep it on track.

“I know people feel it is easier said than done, it is as easy you make it. Life is (all about) what you put in your head,” he said. Rahul said he focused on the need to keep playing and was prepared so that he can utilize the chance.

“We must keep playing cricket and be in the middle and that’s helped me, and I have always felt that’s what helps a batsman to stay in good rhythm, not putting hours in the net, I’d rather be in the middle playing games,” Rahul concluded by saying.
