IND Vs ENG: We Are Still Finalizing Our Opening Pair: Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane, India’s Test vice-captain, has urged Shardul Thakur to do well in the forthcoming five-match Test series versus England. In first-class cricket, Shardul records 16.58 with the batting, but his 67-ball performance helped India win the Gabba Test versus Australia in January. Here is Rahane About IND Vs ENG Opening Pair.

Despite making his debut in 2012, Shardul has 7 half-centuries across 64 first-class matches. In the famous Brisbane Test, he also took 4 wickets. Rahane also recognized the importance of lower-order batsmen and said that the specialized bowlers had been practicing hard in the nets.

Rahane About IND Vs ENG Opening Pair

In a media conference ahead of India’s first Test vs Joe Root and co. at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, Rahane said that.

“Everyone is different. Hardik what he did in 2018 was different for us. Shardul can bat. You have seen Shardul bat in Australia and he did well in domestic cricket as well,” Rahane told.

“(Jasprit) Bumrah, (Mohd) Shami, (Mohd) Siraj, Umesh (Yadav), and Ishant (Sharma) are putting in the effort in the nets. Whatever 20-30 runs we score in end, matters a lot. It’s good that they are wanting to bat for at least 10-12 minutes in the nets.”

“See result comes later and what is important is a process and working hard and contribute as a member of the team. We are hoping for some contributions from our tail-enders,” he stated.

Pujara has been really solid for us at No. 3: Rahane

Cheteshwar Pujara’s batting in Test cricket has recently been criticized. In the first Test, though, Rahane cemented him as India’s No.3. Despite this, he refused to reveal the names of the game’s starters.

“Pujara is our No. 3 batsman. Who will open the innings, we are still finalizing our combination. Pujara has been really solid for us at No. 3 and as for opening pair, the captain, coach, and management will decide,” Rahane added.

In the series, Team India is most satisfied, according to Rahane. He also discussed the significance of mental health and praised Ben Stokes choice to withdraw from cricket to focus on his mental health.
