IND vs ENG: Team India Support Staff Tests COVID Positive

A new report indicates that a member of support personnel of the touring party also tested Covid-19 positive in the Indian camps in England. It was revealed earlier on 15 June that Indian hitter Rishabh Pant contracted and will not be part of Durham’s practice set up next week. Team India Support Staff Tests COVID Positive

Sources verified that Pant seemed to have a sore throat and minor symptoms leading to a positive test. Recently he was observed at Wembley Stadium at the Euro 2020 venue when a few issues emerged since he was not seen in the required Covid-19 gears.

In the meantime, a recent Indian media report indicates that three assistant coaches were instructed to quarantine following a positive test result provided by one support staff member after Pant. None of them will fly to Durham for the warmup game, it’s understandable.

BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla spoke up the subject and said the team is secure and has little to do with it, “One player has been found positive, he was asymptomatic, I won’t disclose the name. He was not staying in the team hotel, he is staying with relatives and is recovering very well. He is in isolation, he was found positive 8 days back. He will be tested again after two days.”

“Team India is fine, there is no problem. Secretary Jay Shah has written a letter to team management everybody should follow the COVID protocols, strict measures whatever could be adopted as per the recommendations must be followed and all safety precautions should be taken and the team has to be very careful during the England tour,” he added.

India is scheduled to play England in five Tests, the first one at Nottingham on 4 August and marks the start of the World Test Championship second cycle. In particular, before their series against Pakistan, as many as seven members of the England group of ODI tested positive and forced the ECB to create a new group led by Ben Stokes.
