IND Vs ENG: BCCI Decides To Give A Break From Bio-Bubble For Indian Players In The UK

India will face England in a five-match Test series beginning August 4 (ENG vs IND) after a heartbreaking eight-wicket loss to New Zealand in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final on June 23. However, India has been given a huge setback ahead of the high-octane series, as authorities from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are now reviewing the status of COVID-19 in the United Kingdom due to a recent rise in instances.

This is disappointing news since the Indian players and broadcast operators have been able to move about freely. However, if the situation does not improve, the BCCI may soon decide to impose a few limitations. The official judgment has still to be made, and if the BCCI believes that stronger action is not required, it will give the players some breathing space.

“We are monitoring the situation and if the condition worsens, we will take a call accordingly, We haven’t taken a final call on it yet.” Arun Dhumal, BCCI’s treasurer told in an interview.

Indian players will be having much time for preparing for ENG vs IND five-match series

The BCCI, interestingly, made preparations for all of its players by delivering the first dosage of vaccination. The second dosage will be administered in England prior to the five-match Test series. Because the UK government had lifted the lockdown restrictions, the BCCI permitted both men and women players to travel with their families.

As soon as the WTC Final Completes on June 23, Indian players will be having much time for preparing for the five-match series against England. Virat Kohli, Ravi Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane, and Cheteshwar Pujara are among the players who have traveled with their families. Before the cricketing action makes an appearance, these players and the rest of the group hoped to go on a small vacation.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID cases in the UK is gradually increasing, almost reaching 10,000 cases in just a week. With the government of England and the BCCI keeping a close eye on the issue, a decision on implementing a few limitations may be made shortly.
