IND vs ENG: Alastair Cook Points Out Virat Kohli’s Flop Plan In The First Test

England managed to beat India in the first of the four-Test match series at Chennai. A lot of observations were made by pundits about the intent of the Indian players. The body language and intensity were not up to the mark said a disappointed India skipper Virat Kohli, counting the many errors his team committed in the massive 227-run loss. This resulted in the Indian team being put under major inspection by the fans and cricket analysts. Many pundits came up with their suggestions.

Ajinkya Rahane scripted a legendary victory for India in Australia in the four-match ‘Border Gavaskar’ Trophy against Australia by 2-1. Rahane’s calm and composed approach was widely hailed which has initiated a comparison between the aggressive approach of India’s regular skipper Kohli and stand-in captain Rahane.

Alastair Cook Expecting Virat Kohli To Be More Aggressive

Cook made an interesting observation regarding India’s skipper Virat Kohli as he reckoned that the 32-year-old wasn’t playing his natural game in the first innings. Cook expects Virat to be aggressive and loud on the field as India has achieved humongous success in the same manner. Alastair Cook asserted that the talks of comparison between both affected Virat Kohli as he tried to be calm and lackadaisical throughout the first game.

“In that first innings, India were lackadaisical. In the second innings, Kohli was back to what he was, so I imagine we’ll see more of that [animation],” Cook said as quoted by Sky Sports.

“Was that a deliberate ploy from Kohli because it was mentioned that India preferred that relaxed style? It didn’t work for him. It’s not his natural way, so he’s got to carry on doing what he does because they have been successful,” he added.

India have emerged as one of the best Test teams under the leadership of Virat Kohli. Kohli boasts of having an enviable Test record as the captain of the Indian team. Under his leadership, India won 33 matches out of 57 played which is better than MS Dhoni’s tally of 27 wins in 60 Tests. Second Test match starts from 13th February, Saturday. India will be looking out to make a few changes in the team and come up with some confidence to fight through.
