On Saturday, India were bowled out for 36 runs in the second innings of the first Test against the Australians, marking their lowest ever total in Test cricket. No batsmen managed to get the double digit score, that’s the scar Indian fans will carry for a long period of time.
Jose Hazelwood and Pat Cummins were lethal with the bowl where Indian batsmen had no idea how to defemd their deliveries. The Australian batsmen managed to chase the score with ease in just 23 overs. India’s failure in the batting line-up helped the hosts to take a 1-0 lead in the ongoing much-anticipated “Border Gavaskar” Test series.
India Would Possibly Mutate Their XI For The Second Test In Melbourne
With Mohammad Shami will certainly miss the second and the third Test due to an injury he picked in the first match. Indians will look to replace injured Shame with either Navdeep Saini or Mohammad Siraj in the second Test. Siraj, who took 3/83 in the first warm-up game, holds the edge. Mohammad Siraj is likely to be a debutant in 2nd Test at Melbourne.
Team India are ready to face a massive drawback with Virat Kohli returning to India for his paternity leave. Virat Kohli’s absence from the squad will leave a big void in India’s batting line-up. Youngster Shubman Gill seems likely a replacement to the Indian skipper in the No.4 position. Gill looks to be in a fine touch scoring 43 and 65 in second warm up game against Australia.
Hanuma Vihari looked completely out of form scoring only 16 and 8 in the first Test. The 27-year-old appeared to be slobbish in the fielding department as well. India’s ace Ravindra Jadeja will be a prominient replacement for Vihari providing a complete all-round performance. Ravindra Jadega can be a profilable addition in the Virat-less Indian squad. Jadeja will provide another bowling option along with his batting. India will have 5 bowing options with ideal three pacers & two spinners with Jadega’s inclusion in the team.
Wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha is also most likely to get replaced by Rishabh Pant in the second Test. Saha handed his wicket cheaply in both the innings with his poor shot selections. And to Pant’s credits, the southpaw performed exceptionally well during India’s previous Test outing in the Australian soil.
Prithvi Shaw absymal performance in the first Test was noticed by every Indian cricketing fan. The promising youngster fell on his face while facing the heavyweight Australian bowlers. Shaw’s lack of intent can be the major cause of him getting dropped from the second Test. KL Rahul is a likely canditate to replace the 21-year-old in the Indian playing XI. A little worry with Kl Rahul as he only averages 10.7 against Australia and was really poor facing Australian bowlers last time around.
