Australia crushed India in the final of ICC Under-19 World Cup 2024 by 79 runs to lift their fourth trophy Willowmoore Park on Sunday.
Choosing to bat, Australia surpassed the 250-run barrier in the high-voltage final with to excellent performances from Harjas Singh (55), Hugh Weibgen (48), and Oliver Peake (46*).
The Indian team, whose three batters were among the tournament’s top three run scorers, had a manageable aim. But India’s final fear continued as they failed to sustain the pressure and suffered another disappointed final defeat.
This is India’s third consecutive final defeat in an ICC tournament in the last eight months. India went down by Australia in the WTC Final in June 2023, then again in the World Cup 2023 in November 2023, and tonight was India’s third consecutive defeat against Australia in the last eight months.

IND U-19 vs AUS U-19 Final Highlights
Raj Limbani shocked Australia by dismissing Sam Kontas for a duck in the third over of the game. Then came skipper Hugh Weibgen, who contributed 78 runs for the second wicket with Harry Dixon.

Raj Limbani was India’s standout bowler, with three wickets. Naman Tiwari dismissed two, while Saumy Pandey and Musheer both took one.

India too faced a shaky start as their in-form batter Arshin Kulkarni walked back to pavilion after scoring just 3.
Callum Vider gave only 6 runs in his first spell of 5 overs and took a wicket, as India were struggling at 28 for 1 after 10.
All hopes were on three players (Musheer Khan, Uday Saharan, and Sachin Das), who were among the tournament’s top three run scorers but only scored 39 runs combined.
With 68 for 4 in 19.1 overs, India failed to recover and only managed to score another 106 runs, losing the Under-19 World Cup final by 79 runs.
Mahli Beardman and Raf MacMillan starred with the ball for Australian team, as both grabbed 3-3 wickets each.
