LPL postponed to 21st November:
The opening Lanka Premier League (LPL) was postponed to 21st November by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) in a bid to ensure that the cricketers participating in the league have sufficient time to follow the quarantine needs of the Sri Lankan Government. Originally, the LPL was scheduled to be started on 14th November, which has now rescheduled to 21st November.
The player draft, which was going to be held on 1st October, now moved to 9th October.
In a statement, Ravin Wickramaratne said “Since the Indian Premier League (IPL) will continue till November 10, we thought keeping some time duration for the cricketers participating in the IPL, and who wants to join in the LPL too.”
The final match of the IPL, which will be held on 10th November in the UAE has involved top-players from England, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and Afghanistan.
This is for the second time, LPL has been rescheduled. Previously, it was slated to be held between 28th August to 20th September, but because of COVID-19, it had to be deferred.
LPL Venues and Teams:
At three international venues in Sri Lanka, the LPL will be taken place – Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Dambulla International Cricket Stadium, and Suriyawewa Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium.
In a 15-days period, 23 matches will take place among five teams, named by Kandy, Colombo, Jaffna, Galle, and Dambulla districts.
