ICC Is Not Planning To Play World Test Championship Finals At Lords Cricket Ground
In what could be a huge blow for the inaugural edition of the World Test Championship, the International Cricket Council (ICC) may be forced to move the final of the event from the historic Lord’s due to lack of financial agreement between the international body and the English and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
Speaking to ANI, sources in the know of developments said that there have been ongoing discussions between the ICC and the ECB, and the situation doesn’t look promising at the moment.
“We could actually see the final of the World Test Championship set to be held from June 10 to 14 at the Lord’s move to another venue. Too early to get into the exact details behind this, but certain financial issues need immediate resolving if the final has to happen at the Lord’s and at the moment the clouds are grey is all I can say,” the source pointed.
It remains to be seen which venue will be finalised for the much-awaited clash if the game is moved out of Lord’s. ICC will be advised by the England Cricket Board (ECB) on the matter before a final call is taken on the venue for the WTC final.
Fans will love to see the final at The Home of Cricket, Lords. Melbourne Cricket Ground, The Ovals and Old Trafford might be in contention if ICC fails to settle the financial issues with ECB.
