I Started My Cricket Career As A Wicketkeeper Batsman- Deepak Hooda

Hooda Revealed That He Even Enjoyed Bowling In The Early Days:

Several batsmen begin their careers as a bowler and vice versa. Their life was developed in such a way that as they moved through the cricketing path they had to assume a totally different role. One is all-rounder Deepak Hooda from Kings XI Punjab, who said he began his career as a wicketkeeper.

In the early days of his career, Hooda announced that he also loved bowling. However, he was given the role of a wicketkeeper-batsman when he first began playing club cricket.

Hooda also admitted he decided to become a wicketkeeper because he didn’t have one from his senior team. But, as a youngster, it was a tough challenge for Hooda. As his knees used to hurt a lot because of the burden of holding.

“In the first two years of my cricket career, I enjoyed the bowling, but when I started playing club Cricket, my coach made me a batman for a wicketkeeper.” Officially, Kings Web site quoted Hooda as saying “It was the first two years of his cricketing career.

“Back then, only because I decided to become a wicketkeeper because the senior team didn’t have anyone for that role, I had to be in the play eleven. But it was tough for me as a youth to stay in the nets all day as my knees used to a lot of discomforts, “he said.

Hooda, who played 61 IPL matches before scoring 524 runs. He said that he realized that wicketkeeping wasn’t his teacup and so he started to develop his batting forte.

“I began to focus on my batting, as I no longer wanted to act as a keeper. At that time, my brother and I were playing together and we used to bowl to help each other develop. “Whether it’s bowling, hitting or fielding, I loved the cricket ground,” said Hooda.

It was planned that the all-rounder will wear the Punjab franchise jersey. But the coronavirus pandemic put a pause to the IPL tournament. Following the pandemic, the much-awaited IPL 2020 was indefinitely postponed and its future looks bleak.
