I Just Can’t Imagine Playing At Empty Stadiums- Allan Border

I Cannot See The T20 World Cup To Be Held Behind Closed Doors- Allan Border:

Former Australian captain Allan Border said he couldn’t see the T20 World Cup being conducted behind closed doors in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic – set to be played in Australia in October-November. The competition was expected to commence on October 18, owing to the coronavirus epidemic that has taken more than 1,15,000 lives worldwide so far.

With travel controls in effect in individual nations, many people have supported, if the case requires, the notion of hosting the tournament behind closed doors. But, the Border isn’t happy with the idea.

“I can’t even picture playing in empty stadiums … Border told to digital media, “This defies logic.

“Have coaches, help personnel and everybody else involved with the game who wanders across the world, playing cricket games, however, you can’t allow anyone into the grounds. I can’t see that happening, maybe.

Throughout Australia, more than 50 people died of COVID-19, and more than 6,000 were diagnosed with coronavirus.

Kevin Roberts Is Hoping That The T20 World Cup Could Be Played As Per Schedule:

“Then you do it, then everyone else goes on with the job, and we’re moving through this pandemic,” Border said.

“And it either has to be postponed, and you’re struggling to bring it in somewhere else.”

Cricket Australia president Kevin Roberts has confirmed earlier that he hoped the T20 World Cup would be held under usual conditions as planned.

“We sincerely hope that in a few weeks or months, all types of the sport will be practiced again,” Roberts was cited as saying by cricket.com.au.

“Neither of us is specialists in this case, but we expect that we should be back in very usual situations when the men’s T20 World Cup will be played in October and November.”
