Hardic Pandya ‘Scores at lightning pace, can be next finisher after Dhoni’: Laxman Sivaramakrishnan names India’s ‘key’ in white-ball cricket
India has announced a second-string group for its limit-over for the Sri Lanka series because of their players’ first choice on the England tour, and Sivaramakrishnan has to comment on the team’s composition because he is the professional who always looks at domestic games in India and assists young people to develop their skills in camps.
As their first string were in England, India had to declare a relatively new lineup. There are six uncapped individuals in the Sri Lanka team, as well as a few seasoned players including Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Hardik Pandya.
‘We don’t have fast bowlers who could also bat well’: Sivaramakrishnan
Laxman Sivaramakrishnan Says Hardik Pandya a dangerous finisher. The cricketer-turned analyst, when asked about Pandya, revealed how his non-bowling did not assist India in limited games.
Sivaramakrishnan believes that Pandya is essential to India, and he is an asset for the side if he bowls consistently. “He’ll have an integral part to play. The moment he starts bowling after regaining full fitness, I think Hardik will be the key for India. After a long time, we’ve got a seam-bowling all-rounder who balances the side. We don’t have fast bowlers who can bat well.”
“Even at the Test level, our fast bowlers are not big-time contributors with the bat but Hardik can do that. And he can get runs in lightning-quick time. He can destroy the opposition. If Hardik is fully fit, he becomes a tremendous asset to the team,” Sivaramakrishnan said in an Interview.
We Are Still Eager To Find A Good Finisher After Dhoni: Sivaramakrishnan
The former India spinner thinks that if he maintains fitness, the all-rounder may be a deadly finisher for his side. “That has been the problem for India. Finishers after MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh. We are still looking to find a good finisher after Dhoni. Hardik Pandya can be an extremely dangerous finisher.”
“It is important for him to regain full fitness and then when he starts to bowl, he will gain more confidence. Hardik can contribute to all three departments of the game. Every time he contributes, he will become a better cricketer both technically and mentally. The key for India’s success in white-ball cricket will be the fitness of Hardik Pandya and if he can play to his potential then it will be awesome,” he concluded.
