Happy Birthday Travis Head – Australia’s Most Exciting New Batsmen

Current Australian cricketer Travis Michael Head was born on 29 December 1993 in Adelaide, Australia.

A left-handed middle-order batsman and a part-time right-handed off-break bowler, he made his first-class debut representing South Australia against Victoria in a Sheffield Shield match in February 2012.

Head was noticed by Team Australia selectors when he scored a century for Adelaide Strikers against Sidney Sixers in the Big Bash League. That performance of his earned him a spot in the Down Under’s T-20I squad that played against India in January 2016 at home. He, however, wasn’t picked up in Team Australia’s T20 squad for the 2016 World T20 tournament.

Head was picked up for his country’s one-day international (ODI) squad to play in a triangular series in West Indies in mid-2016. He made his ODI debut against West Indies in June 2016.

He was also signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League in the later part of 2016 and also by Yorkshire immediately after that to represent them in the English country cricket.

After a string of impressive performances, Head got a call-up for the Aussie Test squad that was to play against Pakistan in September 2018.

Following that, there was no looking back for this fluent stroking batsman. In the 16 Test matches played for Australia, he has scored two centuries and seven fifties.

Head has now become an integral part of the Kangaroos’ squads in both longer and shorter formats of the game.
