Afghanistan Test Captain and sensational spinner Rashid Khan turn’s 21 today. The flipper, born on September 20, 1998, in Nangarhar is one of the best bowlers in the modern era and is the star of Afghanistan cricket.
Rashid made his T20 and ODI debut in October 2015 against Bangladesh and later on played more than 100 matches across both formats for Afghanistan.
He has also been into all the three Afghanistan’s Test matches and is the youngest captain to win against both Ireland and Bangladesh. He was recorded as the consistent wicket-taker across all the formats, where he has 20 wickets haul in Test cricket, 131 ODI wickets and 79 T20I wickets.
In April 2019, Rashid led Afghanistan team in a Twenty20 format and had even captained the side in a match during the ICC World Cup Qualifiers. Later on, he was named as the captain across all the formats after the ICC World Cup 2019.
In his Test captaincy debut, he led Afghanistan to a immense 224-run win against Bangladesh where Rashid was seen picking 11 wickets and scored a half-century in the first innings.
Rashid has a rare ability to bowl a deadly off-break while keeping his lines and lengths right and getting regular wickets has seen him become a popular cog for various franchise-based T20 leagues.
