Happy Birthday Jasprit Bumrah – The Ring Master Of Death Overs

Jasprit Bumrah is famous for his different style of bowling. Born on 6th December 1993 at Ahmedabad, he is India’s right-arm fast-medium pacer.

Bumrah played his debut Rani match for Gujarat in 2013 against Vidarbha and claimed 7 wickets in that game. He ended the tournament as the side’s leading wicket-taker. He made his international debut in the year 2016 against Australia in 2016. In T-20Is, he made his debut against West Indies. He claimed 28 wickets and made a remarkable impact.

When Team India was in search of death over bowlers, Bumrah came to its rescue. Having been a competent performer on the domestic tour, he has been a dangerous bowler at the Ranji level from his debut match.

His quick-arm action has made his variations almost invisible from starting his slower deliveries to his reverse swing yorkers at the death. In the Indian Premier League, he plays for Mumbai Indians, giving tough competition to senior bowlers like Malinga.

By 2017, he had cemented himself as the team go-to bowler, even ahead of Malinga, evidenced by the decision to give him the responsibility of a Super Over against the Gujarat Lions when he justified the call by defending 12 runs against Brendon McCullum and Aaron Finch.

In that same year, Bumrah bowled Mumbai Indians into the finals through a match-winning spell of 3/7 in just three overs during the second qualifier against KKR and then played a big part in clinching the IPL trophy for Mumbai.

He is the player who has featured in all formats. Bumrah played 24 innings in 12 Test matches and grabbed 62 wickets in his overall Test career at an average of 19.24 with a 43.73 strike rate. He played 58 innings in 58 matches in the ODI series and claimed 103 wickets at an average of 21.88 with a 29.21 strike rate.

Bumrah played 42 innings in 42 matches in T-20 matches to claim 51 wickets at an average of 20.18 with an 18.02 strike rate. In IPL, he played in 77 matches and took 82 wickets at an average of 26.62 with a strike rate of 21.12.
