Batting great Sunil Gavaskar is said to have donated Rs 59 lakhs out of which 35 lakh rupees will go to central government and Rs 24 lakhs to Maharashtra government to help authorities in their battle against corona.
Pujara Also Donates Undisclosed Amount
Meanwhile Test specialist batsman Cheteswara Pujara has also contributed an undisclosed amount to PM-Cares fund and the Gujarat government is joining hands with a number of cricketers to fight the corona outbreak.
Cricketers and former star players like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, Rahane and others have come forward to help the government financially to tackle the corona menace by offering significant contributions.
Though Gavaskar did not reveal the matter about the donation a close source to him informed the media.
Later former Mumbai captain Amol Majumdar confirmed the donation on his Twitter account. He wrote on his Twitter,” “Just heard that SMG has donated 59 lakhs towards COVID relief fund. 35 to @PMCaresFunds n 24 lakhs to @CMOMaharashtra. Thumbs up superb gesture Sir.”
Pujara: Deepest Gratitude To Police And Medical Professionals
Pujara also thanked the police and medical professionals who are at the forefront fighting the threat bravely.
He posted a note acknowledging their hard work which read,” My family & I have contributed our bit to the PM-CARES Fund and the Gujarat CM Relief Fund, and hope that you will too. We are thankful to all medical professionals, policemen and women and all others who are all out there working hard for our country and humanity.”
Pujara also stated, ““Every single contribution counts, so let us all do our bit and together we will certainly overcome,” Pujara stated. “We would like to convey our deepest gratitude to all the front line warriors – medical professionals, police men/women, grocery staff, and so many others – for their dedication, courage and sacrifices in serving our nation and humanity.”
There are about 5,194 confirmed cases in India where 109 people have been killed by it until now.
