Former Pak First-Class Cricketer Zafar Sarfaraz Dies Of COVID-19

Zafar Sarfaraz, Former Pakistan first-class cricketer  has passed away

Former first-class cricketer of Pakistan Zafar Sarfaraz has passed away after testing positive for the coronavirus. He was 50 years old and he had been on a ventilator in the comprehensive care unit. He admitted to a private hospital in Peshawar,  a subdivision in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region of Pakistan for the last three days. He has become the first professional cricketer, who died in COVID-19 in Pakistan.

In the year 1988, Zafar Sarfaraz played his debut match. He was a left-handed middle-order batsman. In total, he made 616 runs by playing 15 first-class matches for Peshawar. Before his retirement in 1994, he scored 96 runs in six one day matches and then he changed his career path to coaching and became the coach of both the senior as well as under-19 Peshawar squads in the middle of the 2000s.

Zafar Sarfaraz was a very well-known figure in the world of Pakistan cricket as he was the brother of Pakistan international cricketer Akhtar Sarfaraz. Between 1997 December and 1998 October, he played four ODIs and scored 66 runs. 10 months ago, he died in the same city Peshawar due to severe colon cancer.

In Pakistan, approximately 100 people have died because of coronavirus pandemic. According to a report, Peshawar city has 744 cases among the 5500 active cases in Pakistan. Zafar Sarfaraz was the 1st professional cricket player to die because of the coronavirus in Pakistan.

The entire world is being forced to adopt self-quarantine precautions because of the deadly coronavirus. T20 international captain of Pakistan national cricket team Babar Azam, Test cricket captain Azhar Ali and one of the best all-rounder’s Mohammad Hafeez have joined their hands to share tips to overcome the pandemic on behalf of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

It is declared by the officials of Pakistan that nearly two individuals have died to the dangerous disease in the northern area of Pakistan.
