Ex Indian Player, Dilip Vengsarkar, And Rahane Felicitate U-19 Indian Players

On Thursday, Team India Former captain Dilip Vengsarkar gave his suggestions to the Mumbai’s young players, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Divyansh Saxena. They have made their way to India’s U-19 World Cup team to showcase their talent and grab the golden opportunity that has come their way. Jaiswal and Saxena were part of Dadar Union, where they got felicitated by Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane in the presence of Vengsarkar and former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar.

The former Indian Player Vengsarkar, who played 116 Tests, said, “It is a great opportunity for both of them, because they are excellent players, have come on merit, scored heavily in U-19 tournaments against South Africa, England or Australia, and they have come to a stage in their career, where they have to raise the bar.”

The former chairman of the national selection committee gave much importance to performing important matches like the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Rahane And Vengsarkar Gave Their Opinion Regarding these Young Players:

The veteran said, “So when you get an opportunity you have to grab it with both hands, that’s very important. In cricket, you must grab these golden chances. There is a very big event coming up and it is very important to deliver and showcase your talent.”

Remembering the statement of a former North Zone player that Test cricket is the real test match, Vengsarkar added to this statement, “So that is why I am saying this is a big opportunity for these guys and everyone will watch you, it is big event i.e. World Cup. India has extremely given its best performance in the last 4-5 World Cups, so this year also it is a very important event, and we wish you success.”

On the other side, Rahane told the young players to play in the same way they are currently playing. He gave his message in Marathi by saying,” don’t take any pressure. Events like this inspire us, and we want to give our best for our country. The way you have been playing, play the same way and there is no need to change your game format. Dilip Sir said you have to score runs in big events and that is the mindset, but if you will take one game at the time, you can easily reach your goal.”

An Indian spinner named, Ankolekar, is the third player from Mumbai to make his entry in India squad. The ICC U-19 World Cup will be held in the coming next year of January in South Africa. Bangar gave his praise to Jaiswal, saying that he has come a long way from the U-19 level by giving good performance for Mumbai.

“Yashasvi has progressed to a level higher than India U-19 because he has performed so well for Mumbai in ODIs, and he got three 100s and one was a double hundred. Having performed at the first-class will help him when he goes out and plays for India as he is going to be the main player for India in the event. Divyansh has also gone through various hardships, he is also a prolific performer.” Rahane added.
