Dean Jones Was Aged 59 And He Died In Mumbai Hotel:

Former Australian batsman Dean Jones has died of a cardiac arrest in a Mumbai hotel, IPL broadcaster Star Sports has confirmed. Jones was 59. He was in Mumbai with the Star Sports’ commentary team for the Indian Premier League 2020. He was part of the 1987 World Cup-winning squad and played 52 Tests and 164 ODIs for Australia.

It is with deep sorrow that we are sharing the news of Mr. Dean Mervyn Jones AM’s passing away. He died of a sudden cardiac arrest, “said a press release from Star Sports.”

We express our deep condolences to his family and stand ready in this difficult period to help them. In order to make the appropriate arrangements, we are in contact with the Australian High Commission, “the release added.”

Jones was one of the game’s great ambassadors associated with South Asian cricket development. He was enthusiastic about seeking new talent and developing young cricketers.
