For a T20I series, West Indies Women To Tour England In September

The T20I series is all set to start on September 21:

The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) as well as the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) are ready to return women’s international cricket with a T20I series. For a five-match T20I series, the West Indies Women will tour England which is planned to start from 21st September. And all these five games will be staged in a bio-secure environment at Derby.

Since the final match of the T20I World Cup, which was held in March, it will be the first international women’s game between important countries. The England Cricket Board has given assurance that organizing an international Women series this summer is their highest priority. But, now they are finding out an opposition squad after team South Africa as well as India dismissed of the planned tri-series because of the COVID-19.

It is worthy to notice that the third T20I of the 5 twenty20 series, which is scheduled to start on 26th September, will air on BBC TV. Since the final match of the 1993 World Cup in the UK, it will become the first women’s tournament shown on free-to-air TV.

The CEO of ECB, Tom Harrison is planning to host the West Indies and is happy to see the progression that women’s cricket has made in England in the past some years.

Harrison said “It has been very important for us that our all efforts to provide a proper bio-secure environment and support opponents have been fully equal to those that have delivered as successfully in the men’s series of England.

Furthermore, he added “There were 86,000 numbers of fans present at the final match of the ICC Women’s World Cup and the direction of progress in the women’s cricket in England has been persistently positive in the last few years. Despite the challenges of COVID-19, the momentum must in progress and we should not neglect our responsibility in this agenda.”
