Pakistan’s cricket team tour of Australia turned out as most had expected. It has been the case of many past tours (0-3 in 1999, 0-3 in 2004, 0-3 in 2009, 0-3 in 2016-17), where more celebrated Pakistan sides’ turned up on Australian shores and by the time the series ended, they had their tail firmly between their legs.
One of the major issues for the Pakistan cricket team has been their opening combination. While Shan Masood has- at times- displayed grit and character, Masood has had little support from the other end. The mystery was further compounded with the failure of Imam-ul-Haq. The left-handed opener, who was drafted in the playing 11 ahead of Abid Ali, has managed just 2 & 0 across the two innings and looked all at sea against Mitchell Starc and company.
The left-handed opener Imam-ul-Haq has been facing a lot of criticism from fans as well as former cricketers for his poor performances. And, it was further accentuated when he was captured sharing a laugh with Justin Langer (Australian coach) in the post-match presentation party.
Naturally, it wasn’t going well with the dejected fans and former cricket players, still reeling from the defeat. And, Pakistan former cricketer Faisal Iqbal took to Twitter to express his ire regarding the same. Faisal Iqbal quoted Imam’s photo with a caption, “Shameful pic of imam after failing as a batsman plus losing the Test Series 2-0..”
