Starting on August 4, England will welcome Team India in a five-match Test series. This series will also serve as a warm-up for the next World Test Championship final, and both sides will need to leave no stone left in order to win. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to arrange a couple of tour games for the Virat Kohli-led team to assist them to adjust to the new circumstances. Let’s discuss ECB Approves To India’s Request For Warm-Up Matches

ECB Approves To India’s Request For Warm-Up Matches

After India’s eight-wicket loss to New Zealand in the just ended ICC World Test Championship final, the BCCI made the demand. Many believe that a lack of match practice caused certain players to become “rusty,” losing India the renowned championship. As a result, BCCI wants its players to work hard in practice games before the big series against the Three Lions.

Whereas an official declaration has yet to be made, Still several reports that the ECB has agreed to the BCCI’s request for the visiting team to play a pair of warm-up matches. Furthermore, the original intention for the visit was for India to face India ‘A’ in two first-class games in the UK around the same time. The proposal was put on hold because of COVID-19 concerns and travel limitations.

Every player in the team need to bring their A-game in order to secure a spot in the Playing- XI

Virat Kohli’s team will, however, be given a few warm-up games before the important tour, and they must make the most of the chance. Importantly, India’s combination in the series might be determined by how well they play in these warm-up games. With Shubman Gill out with a leg injury, KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, and Prithvi Shaw are all in the running to replace him.

Additionally, numerous rumours claim that certain experienced, like Cheteshwar Pujara, may be dismissed to put the youth to the test. As a result, every player in the team needs to bring their A-game in order to secure a spot in the Playing-XI.

In the meanwhile, India defeated the Three Lions 3-1 in a four-match Test series earlier this year. However, England will have home advantage in this series, and repeating their exploits would be difficult for the visitors. As a result, it will be fascinating to observe how the series progresses.
