Dilip Vengsarkar Said MS Dhoni Did Not Want Virat Kohli To Play

Virat Kohli Is Undoubtedly One Of The Best Batsmen:

The top stars in Indian cricket at the moment are Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. Since the retirement of senior players, including Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, and others, they have brought the national team to the next level. Also, the pair complements each other well throughout several games in India.

But they admire one another wholeheartedly. But, there was a period when MS Dhoni did not want to be part of Team India with Kohli. And the former Indian selector, Dilip Vengsarkar, has shed light upon the same.

Virat Kohli is without question one of the greatest cricket batsmen all over the globe. He brought world cricket with his excellent batting on the tail of a hurricane. He has made himself into a fitness freak from a chubby man.

Also, in the last seven or eight years, he has emerged as the run-machine for Team India. Kohli is no less than a diamond, raised only to play cricket and govern.

Virat Kohli Was The U-19 Captain And I Selected Him In The Team:

Dilip Vengsarkar, the former chief selector, said in an interview that there was a period when MS Dhoni didn’t want to see Kohli play for Team India.

The 63-year-old said he and the other selection panel members decided to take players from the Under-23 team, so they captured the U-19 World Cup at the point. So, he selected Virat Kohli, who played in the tournament exceptionally well. Additionally, he became the team’s skipper.

“My colleagues and I thought we’re going to take the U-23 boys and then we’d won the U-19 World Cup, Virat Kohli was the U-19 captain, so I took him out of the squad.”

“He (Kohli) was good technologically, so I figured it was going to be performed. We were heading to Sri Lanka, and I thought that was the perfect position he was meant to be in the squad. “As you tell Dilip Bhai,” my four colleagues said.

Gary Kirsten and Dhoni said, though, ‘Actually, we haven’t seen him, and we’re going to start with the same squad.’ I told them, ‘You haven’t seen him, but I’ve seen him, and we’ve got to take this guy,’ said Dilip Vengsarkar.

Team India was then expected to fly for cricketing series in Sri Lanka. It was the right moment to get Kohli into the National Team, Vengsarkar says. Yet, MS Dhoni and Gary Kirsten said no to his statement because at the moment, and they had not seen Kohli batting.

Dhoni and Srinivasan, respectively, sponsored the inclusion of Subramanian Badrinath, who performed well in domestic cricket. Dilip Vengsarkar also recited the fact that the former chairman of the BCCI at the time was not pleased with him, Srinivasan was not satisfied with Kohli’s inclusion and said Badrinath deserved the chance, “said Vengsarkar.
