Dhoni Has Greater Clarity On Players’ Positions: Virender Sehwag

Virender Sehwag, India’s former batting opener, has thrown his weight behind KL Rahul to bat at the 5th position.

“The present Indian team management will look to change his arrangement because KL Rahul has failed 4 times when he was batting at 5th Position. But, the same case does not apply to Dhoni’s matter, who knows how important it is to back players at such positions, having himself gone through the tough crush,” said Sehwag.

He added, “When MS Dhoni was working as the commander of the Indian team, there was more transparency about the player’s way of batting and batting positions.”

Sehwag Speaks About Dhoni’s Position:

Sehwag expressed “Dhoni as skipper, in the batting unit has an impressive clarity taking into consideration each player’s spot in the batting unit. He had a vision for talent and had recognized every single player who would take Indian cricket ahead.”

“For a while in limited-over cricket the top-order finding it easier, if I was those in the middle order who need backing from the captain. If you don’t have enough time for players, else how they will learn to play the new tricks and become great players?”

“Before playing as an opener I committed a lot of mistakes as a middle-order batsman, which even occurred in the team’s failure. But you will never become a great player when you are sitting outside on the bench.” Sehwag said.

India tour of New Zealand:

KL Rahul batted at the 5th position on his home ground in the ODI match against Australia, and India. Rahul also kept wickets in the absence of Rishabh Pant, who was absent due to an injury.

KL Rahul, who has been playing well these days, has displayed his excellent batting skills.

India’s New Zealand tour will see both teams start with five T20Is which will begin from January 24 and followed by three One Day Internationals and two Tests.
