IPL 2022: DC’s Mitchell Marsh Hospitalized After Testing Positive For COVID

Delhi Capitals (DC) star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, has screened positive for Covid-19 and has been hospitalized with 4 other staff personnel identified as close contacts. The first IPL player to test positive for the deadly virus this year was Delhi’s physio Patrick Farhart, and after that, speculations surfaced that an international player with moderate signs had come back positive in a Rapid Antigen Test and would be subjected to RT-PCR. In this article, we have mentioned Delhi Capitals Mitchell Marsh.

As a result, the players went into isolation in their rooms, and the squad appeared to be in a state of mild panic. As per sources, one doctor, one social media staffer, and three hotel employees working for the Delhi Capitals tested positive, but the good news is that the remaining players on the team have come back negative.

Delhi Capitals Mitchell Marsh: Medical team is closely monitoring his condition

“All the members of the team are confined to their rooms, waiting for the test results on Tuesday morning,” the source from DC & BCCI said.

“We have not heard of any change in the program and the situation in the Delhi camp is manageable right now. For a match to go on as per schedule, a franchisee must have 12 players available including seven Indians. If 12 aren’t available, then the IPL technical committee will take a call,” an IPL official confirmed.

Delhi will play Punjab in their following match on Wednesday (20 April), and a decision on whether the game will go ahead as planned is likely to be made only after the performance of the 2 days of testing. The franchise has issued a formal statement confirming the news.

Delhi Capitals all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has tested positive for COVID-19, following which he has been admitted to a hospital. The Delhi Capitals medical team is closely monitoring Marsh’s condition,” DC’s statement read.

“A few more members from the Delhi Capitals bio-bubble, including support staff members, have returned positive tests as well. Though they are all asymptomatic, their condition is being monitored closely by the franchise. All remaining members of the bubble are currently in isolation in their respective rooms, and will be tested regularly”, a DC official added.

“See, it’s too early to say what will happen to the match on the 20th. The rules have been made clear. If DC can field 12 players, the match will go on. But it will depend on the Covid test results tomorrow. If there are no more positive cases, we are hopeful the match will go on. We are in constant touch with DC staff and the medical team,” a senior BCCI official said.
