Day Four Ranji Trophy Match In Assam Gets Suspended

The day four of the ongoing Ranji Trophy game between Assam and Services in Guwahati, scheduled to be held on Thursday, got suspended due to the curfew that took place in the city following protests over the Citizenship Amendment Bill. The hosts were in the middle of their opening match against the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB). However, the match in Tripura between the hosts and Jharkhand was also suspended. The BCCI then gave its statement that this match was moving forward as scheduled despite the protests in Agartala.

BCCI Gives Its Statement On The Suspension Of Day 4 Ranji Trophy Match:

The BCCI GM Cricket Operations Saba Karim gave his statement, saying, “We have been advised by the state association not to move forward with the match. Players and match officials have been advised to stay in the hotel. At this moment, the safety of the players and match officials is important.”

When asked about the match whether it will get replayed or the points will be shared, Karim stated: “As the curfew has been imposed, both teams in Assam and match officials have been advised not to leave the hotel. We follow whatever advice we receive from the host association.”

Previously, he stated that the matches at both the venues need to be suspended. The match in Guwahati was taking a new turn for an exciting end with Assam needing 168 runs to win with five wickets in hand. The Services then bounced back very strongly after which they were able to score 129 runs in their first innings. They dismissed Assam for 162 and in response scored 272 runs. In the second innings, Assam was reeling at 74 runs for five at stumps on day three.
