David Warner’s 24th Test Hundred Helps Set Kiwis A Target Of 421 Runs

Australia victory against New Zealand

Australia set a sloppy New Zealand 421 runs to win on day four of the New Year’s Test at Sydney. David Warner continued his present good-form in SCG Test. Under a cloudy atmosphere, the player picked up 132 runs before lunch, with Warner hurrying from 23 overnight to a century shortly after lunch.

He is an international cricketer and a former captain of the Australian national team and he is known for his aggressive left-handed style of batting favoring the aerial route. He mostly prefers to score on his offside. In Test innings at the SCG, Warner’s eight recent scores now read 111 not out, 45, 56, 55, 113, 122 not out, 4 and 101.

Warner exhausts over 5-run penalty:

Warner angrily complained about the umpire for the five-run penalty for running on the pitch. After one over, Marnus Labuschagne was cautioned for running down the wicket for a quick single. Warner was formally given a five-run punishment by umpire Aleem Dar when the match official ruled that Warner did not make any effort to escape from the pitch while running for a single.

The five runs were taken off after the officials said that Aussies could have been trying to make footmarks for Nathan Lyon on the pitch in the fourth innings of the match. Following that, New Zealand’s first innings score was raised by five runs from 256 to 261.

Warner hits the third test century of the summer:

Warner scored 100 runs in 147 balls on Monday, which was his third Test century in his home country this summer. It is an amazing rebound from his deflating Ashes campaign in England.

He finished his test summer the same way he started it with a commanding century. Warner worked a ball through the in-field on the leg side to reach the milestone to reach his 24th career Test century.
