Dale Steyn Feels Mohammed Siraj Would Have Great Test Career

Indian pace bowler Mohammed Siraj has had a dream debut in Australia earlier this year. After the main bowlers got injured, Siraj got the chance to debut for India against Australia and he did not disappoint the team at all. Let’s look at why Dale Steyn Praises Mohammad Siraj.

Siraj bowled all the correct lines and length to trouble batsmen and got important wickets too. Captain Ajinkya Rahane was hugely impressed with him and used him for leading the pace attack in absence of experience bowlers which India won and were favorites to qualify for the WTC finals too.

Dale Steyn was highly impressed with Mohammed Siraj and he reckons him to stay fit for the upcoming Test series against England.  In the favorable swinging conditions of England, Mohammed Siraj and Ishant Sharma can lead the attack from the front to get the England bowlers out.

“I like what they have got right now. All those bowlers bring something different to the party. My advice is to stay fit. Five Test matches – that requires a lot of bowling. It’s a lot of wickets to take, and if you’re going to rely on your seamers to do a lot of bowling, you have to stay fit,” Steyn said.

I think Siraj is somebody who can do wounders: Steyn

Team India has a lot of pace options with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj. Out of all this, Dale Steyn was most impressed by the young pacer Siraj and feels that he bring the right attitude towards the game.

“Mohammed Siraj is somebody who could come in. I think he brings a good attitude to the game. That’s another thing we tend to forget when you’re playing in England conditions. It’s not just about where you put the ball but also the attitude you bring, getting in people’s faces, making them play shots they don’t particularly want to play – I think Siraj is somebody who can do that,” said Steyn.

Dale Steyn later added on how Siraj could have been a part of the WTC final against New Zealand but he thinks that Siraj would have leaked few runs too like other bowlers against the world-class Kiwis batting side.

“I saw parts of that little bit of fight when he played in Australia and I immediately knew he’s going to have a good Test career. Don’t forget about the attitude of a fast bowler too. Maybe that’s something India would have really relished in the World Test Championship final, but it would have come with the sacrifice of some more runs,” the South Africa pacer added.
