Our foreign quota is full: CSK
It was a big blow for Chennai Super Kings when the most promising batsman Suresh Raina declared his exemption from the camp because of personal reasons. The vice-captain of CSK traveled to Delhi after the declaration. He gave a hint for his comeback if the situation of the COVID-19 improves, but still, the franchise is not doing any official word about it.
As per the report, the Chief Executive officer of CSK, Kasi Viswanathan stated that they can’t take any foreign player as their foreign quota is complete. According to the rules of IPL, a side can have at most eight overseas players and 17 numbers of Indian players (in 2020 IPL, a maximum of 24 players are permitted).
CSK team has Lungi Ngidi, Josh Hazelwood, Shane Watson, Dwayne Bravo, Mitchell Santner, Sam Curran, Faf du Plessis, and Imran Tahir.
He said “Our quota of including overseas players is already complete. I have no idea how we can include another overseas player in the team.”
Furthermore, KS Viswanathan also said that Deepak Chahar is one of the two cricketers who had tested COVID-19 positive, and from Friday he will begin his training. Some days back, he had recovered from the coronavirus but was yet to pass the fitness tests. “Deepak Chahar has all the required clearance from the Indian cricket board, BCCI and from the CSK side and will begin his training from today”.
