Chris Nenzani has given resignation with immediate effect as the president of Cricket South Africa (CSA) after chaotic seven-year sovereignty that was destroyed by corruption allegations.

According to the statement of CSA, Chris Nezani resigned on 14th August 2020, less than a month ahead he was predicted to be the AGM of the board on 5th September. His tenure was extended by 1 year in 2019.

In a statement, it is stated “Mr. Nenzani has shown tremendous leadership, support, insight, and proper direction to grow the cricket with a concentration on achieving good transformation and access for the most of the South African people.”

“With the leadership of Mr. Nenzani, the CSA has grown since 2013. The Council Members noted that as per the Memorandum of Incorporation (MOI), the Vice President, Mr. Beresford Williams will now work as Members Council’s President until the appointment of a new President.”

In the month of December, Cricket South Africa had suspended the CSA chief executive officer, Thabang Moroe due to accusations of delinquency and Jacques Faul working as acting CEO. To date, the case of Moroe is unresolved. According to the report, after one hour of the suspension of COO of CSA, Nassei Appiah, Nenzani resigned.

Graeme Smith, the former captain of South Africa, who is working as CSA director of cricket till 2022 March, is expected that the South Africa Cricket will be back on track very soon. Last month, 30 former cricketers of South Africa including Herschelle Gibbs, Makhaya Ntini, and Vernon Philander had joined the worldwide Black Lives Matter (BLM) campaign.

The cricketers involved in this campaign after Pat Symcox and Boeta Dippenaar criticized bowler Lungi Ngidi for supporting the Black Lives Matter movement. The development had led to Cricket South Africa “reaffirming” its complete support to the Black Lives Matter campaign.
