CSA Gets Sports-Ministry Green Signal To Resume Training

Cricket South Africa gets the Sports Ministry’s approval

The sports ministry of South Africa gives permission to cricket South Africa to return to training and play. On Thursday, the organization will have a meeting to plan its course back to action. The concentration of CSA will be on approving the national men’s as well as women’s squads back in action, although regional and franchise players will wait to start pre-season campaigns. A new date is not expected immediately for the 3TC tournament- a format of the game in which three sides will play in the same game.

CSA was forced to defer the 3TC tournament last week. It is originally scheduled to be held on 27th June, but it had not got permission from the government to play the match. CSA has to get permission from Health as well as sports ministry since it hoped the game would be held at SuperSport Park in Centurion, which is a hotspot area of coronavirus. As it is predicted that between July and September, South Africa can head towards the COVID-19 peak, CSA may think about another venue for the match. The report says that CSA would need a minimum of seven days of training before taking place 3TC match.

From the report, it means that now the most important thing for CSA is to ensure its national player teams return to prearranged sessions, particularly as they have been out of action for an extra three months.

Since 15th March, no single cricket match has been taking place after the domestic one-day cup’s group stage was finished. The playoffs as well as the final match didn’t happen. At that time, the men’s team of South Africa was playing a three-match ODI series in India. But after one rained-off match, the South Africa squad returned home. On 27th March, the South Africa team went on strict quarantine which meant the home series of women’s team against Australia had to be postponed. The women’s team also can’t play with West Indies. The Sri Lanka tour of men’s South Africa team was scheduled but it is also postponed.
