Coronavirus Pandemic – ECB Cancels Dynamos Cricket And Other National Competitions

The Dynamos Cricket And Other National Tournaments Were Postponed By The England And Wales Cricket Board (ECB) On Thursday Because Of The Coronavirus Pandemic:

On Thursday, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) cancelled Dynamos Cricket and some state tournaments because of the coronavirus pandemic.”As we continue to work towards recreational cricket returning on or around July 4, however, it has become clear that we will unfortunately be unable to run some elements of the scheduled 2020 cricket season given the current constraints, like Dynamos Cricket and some National Competitions,” the ECB said in a statement.

Some of those tournaments would require rescheduling, which might logistically make planning another cricket difficult for clubs. “With a shortened summer leading to fixture problems, we made the decision to cancel the competitions below to ensure that all players have an opportunity to play,” read the email.

“In addition, we should prioritize local play opportunities over national and regional competitions to ensure maximum versatility for all clubs seeking a return to action and because we believe it is easier for clubs and players to minimize their amount of travel,” he said.

The tournaments which were called off include National Counties Championship (Three-day cricket), National County Showcase Fixtures v First-Class Counties, Royal London Club Championship, Vitality Men’s Club T20 Cup and Plate, Vitality Women’s Club T20 Cup and Plate, U18 Boys County Championship, U17 Super Fours, Royal London Boys County Age Group Under 14, 15 and 18 Cup Competitions, Royal London Girls County Age Group Under 15 and 17 Cup Competitions, ECB David English Bunbury Festival, ECB City Cup, ECB Over 50s County Championship, ECB Girls Regional Development Centre Festival and ECB Girls U15 Festivals.

However, the ECB collaborated with the government to see the return of recreational cricket on or around July 4 as it aims to remove certain restrictions across society.
