Club Cricketers To Observe Social Distance During Practice In UK

The Maximum Number Of Attendees Have Been Limited To 30 For Any Event:

As per the new guidelines released by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for the return of recreational cricket, amateur cricketers would be required to maintain a social distance, even if they attempt a fast single or stand up to the stumps.

The updated guidelines were released in compliance with Step 4 of the ECB’s Recreational Cricket Return Roadmap and distributed to clubs and leagues prior to the start of the leisure game on Saturday, a leading sports website announced.

According to a leading sports website, the rules require all teams to play with 11 cricketers, but the maximum number of participants for each game, including coaches and officials, has been limited to 30.

Close-in fielders and wicket-keepers were told to observe social distances and to maintain one-metre distance from fellow players. This situation can cause the wicket-holders not to stand up to the stumps when the spinners come into action.

Even as they were running between the wickets, the batsmen were told to run in different running lines to make sure they weren’t within two meters of the others. Players were allowed to use their own tools.

Any saliva may be added to the ball at any time, but in contrast to the professional cricket case, the use of sweat for ball-shining has also been banned. The use of clubhouse services, dressing rooms and toilets will also comply with the new guidance from the UK Government.

International cricket resumed on Wednesday, following a break of 116 days, when England and the West Indies met each other on the first day of the Ageas Bowl test in Southampton. Since March 13, no international cricket has been played due to the coronavirus pandemic. All teams will be playing against each other in the three-game test series. The other two tests are going to be held in Manchester.
