Australian cricket stars, Chris Lynn and Glenn Maxwell, along with Tennis star Nick Kyrgios, have promised support for victims of bushfires that are troubling Australia on Friday by donating cash for every ace or six a tennis player or a batman hits.
These wildfires have forced to people leave their homes en masse, besides claiming the lives of 18 people. The country is also getting ready to face a heatwave on the weekend which will only serve to aggravate these blazes.
The tennis players pledged A$200 for each ace served by him in tennis matches across the summer in the Pacific nation, beginning with the ATP Cup that got underway on Friday.
Meanwhile, players from both sides in the third cricket Test in Sydney wore black armbands on Friday to pay respects to those who died in this tragedy.
BBL Heros
Lynn and Maxwell, the two Australians renowned for their big-hitting, announced a donation of A$250 for every six they hit during the ongoing BBL tournament.
In his tweet, Lynn said, “Hey Guys, for every six I hit in this year’s Big Bash League I will donate $250 towards the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal.”
“It is special to see so many athletes from various sports getting in behind the real heroes who are fighting to save lives and properties around our country.”
Maxwell replying to his compatriot, said, “Love it Lynny!! I’ll match you on $250 per six I hit in this year’s BBL.”
it is reported that D’Arcy Short, who was picked up for the Aussie team to tour India for a one-day series, also jumped onto the bandwagon by announcing the same.
