Last Year For Kuldeep Yadav Has Not Been That Great:
The 2019 calendar year was not especially rosy for Kuldeep Yadav, and he knows it better than anyone else. Despite some difficult moments on the cricket field and questions raised in the media, India’s leading left-wing leg-spinner kept calm and took the best way to get his A-game back on track.
“2019 was certainly a difficult one,” Kuldeep confessed in a conversation with reporters on the eve of the third and final T20I against Sri Lanka in Pune. “I learned a lot from those trying times, and the best thing for me was to know that I might actually have planned things better.”
The hard work and preparation that goes into building a cricketer sometimes go unnoticed, with players often remembered (or forgotten) on the basis of their performances in the center.
“If I had spent a few hours thinking more and giving more time to myself, I might have done better. In 2020, my goal is to try and prepare every game better and give me more time so that I have more head-space to think about my game” he had added while interacting with media earlier this year
Kuldeep’s second ODI hat-trick against the Windies last year showed a marked change in his way of thinking and execution. By his own admission, it’s some of the subtle variations he’s been working on that helped him pull things together.
Talking about the importance of mental preparation, and assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition ahead of each game, the 25-year-old once said, “You’re still playing a lot of games. It’s important to find time for yourself, and prepare well for-and every game.
“I want to be more mentally prepared this year. I’m sure I’m going to take the aid of video analysts and talk to the bowling coach (Bharat Arun) in the nets where we can find out the strengths and weaknesses of the different batsmen we’re playing against” said Yadav.
2020 promises to be an exciting one for Kuldeep, with every Team India and KKR fan wishing him a lot of success, giving him many reasons to celebrate this calendar year.
