Broadcaster ‘Frustrated’ By Cricket Australia’s Uncertainty Over Schedule

James Warburton: Uncertainty over the summer schedule was proving frustrating

James Warburton, the boss of Channel Seven dismissed a broadside on Tuesday (25-08-2020) at Cricket Australia and said that uncertainty prevailing over the summer schedule was really frustrating for the broadcaster.

Cricket Australia has announced a four-Test series in between Australia and India, which will start in this year December and dates of the men’s as well as women’s domestic Twenty20 tournaments but has yet to finalize the fixture in this travel restrictions and border controls because of COVID-19.

James Warburton Statement:

On Tuesday, Warburton told an investor that Cricket Australia required to follow the lead of important football leagues of Australia, which shifted quickly to rejoin their schedules and restart tournament months after the shutting down all the sports because of the pandemic in March.

Furthermore, Warburton said, “Finally, when you look at the season such as AFL and to an extent, the NRL, (CA), required to see at what is possible to give, stop discussing about international borders being unopened, or borders being unopened, and begin to look at what actually is the season we are going to give.”

“We have given a big cost for the rights and we required to understand very quickly what the season about. It is really frustrating with Cricket Australia, that is for sure.”

 

It is for the second year, channel seven is in a record-five years contract deal for Australian cricket with pay-TV provider Foxtel.

Cricket Australia also gives confirmation that last week that Australia’s postponed white-ball tour to England would proceed from 4th September but doubts prevailing over the home summer.

The southern area of Victoria is in lockdown after the second wave of COVID-19 and the authorities have closed state borders to stop the spreading of the virus.

The interim chief executive officer of Cricket Australia, “ Nick Hockley sais that the CA would declare revisions to the fixture once it had all essential government exemptions and biosecurity measures in place.

In a statement, Hockley said, “We are pretty much sure we will give (Channel Seven) with fantastic content this summer.”
