Mohammed Siraj was among 3 Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) players retained for the IPL 2022 season, together with ex-team captain Virat Kohli and Aussie star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell.
For the forthcoming season, Siraj has been paid Rs 7 crore. The talented bowler has been a key component of RCB since about the 2018 IPL season and has performed under Kohli’s captaincy for the past 4 editions. He has also progressed through the years to be among their primary death overs experts.
It became news, Virat Kohli has come to Toli Chowki: Siraj
“I had invited everyone from RCB to my house for dinner. I went home straight from the hotel. When I called him (Virat) up, he said “I have a stiff back miyan, I can’t come,” said Siraj in an interaction.
“I told him to rest. What more could I say. But, when everyone came, I saw him get off the car. Everyone was there, PP (Parthiv Patel) Bhai, Chahal Bhai. I just ran towards Bhaiya (Virat) and hugged him. It was the best surprise of my life. Because Bhaiya (Virat) had said he won’t come. It became news, Virat Kohli has come to Toli Chowki”, he added.
Furthermore, the 27-years old has detailed how Kohli surprised him off guard by unexpectedly entering his home after first denying to join owing to a sore back. Later, when the hitting legend and his RCB colleagues approached, Mohammed Siraj’s excitement knew no boundaries as he went over to him and hugged him.
The Indian pacer is going to share the new ball with Australian star pacer Josh Hazlewood in the showpiece tournament’s 15th season, which is set to begin in late March. This year, Siraj will be aided by the caliber of medium-bowler Harshal Patel, Australian fast Jason Behrendorrf, Siddharth Kaul, England speedster David Willey, and many others.
With a strengthened lineup, the 3-time finalists will be looking to get their best in their quest for their first IPL title.
