“BCCI Will Win”- Ian Chappell On IPL Replacing T20 World Cup

Ian Chappell Said The BCCI Will Get Their Way:

Ian Chappell, former captain of Australia, said he is not sure that whether the 2020 World Cup will start in October as per the schedule or not. Chappell said that if they decide to host the Indian Premier League (IPL) they will win.

The tournament has been postponed indefinitely because of the coronavirus pandemic. The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) must take the lead. Chappell said the chances of a T20 World Cup as expected were very bleak when talking to Wide World of Sports.

“You know first of all that the BCCI is going to win.”

“They’ll get their way if they want to play in October. And it seems to me that the chances of T20 World Cup are somewhere between Buckley’s and none.” Chappel said.

IPL Looks Like The Best Possible Option- Mark Taylor:

“This is also an opportunity to stand up and say that India will not force the world around the cricket,” the cricketer turned commentator said. He also claimed that players who receive most of the money in IPL and other leagues should not be stopped.

Mark Taylor, another former captain from Australia, said that in the present scenario, IPL is the best possible option. He also commented on T20 World Cup in the future.

“This is the most likely IPL possibility to replace the T20 World Cup. 15 sports teams from October-November will be incredibly difficult to fly to Australia. The tournament with 45 matches at seven venues worldwide, which we are in difficult situations,” Taylor said.

Taylor claimed that the IPL would be the obligation for an individual whether or not he wants to fly, as it replaces the T20 World Cup.

Taylor concluded, “If the ICC is postponing the T20 World Cup, the BCCI will be able to say that we are going to have our IPL in India. This places pressure on individuals rather than on nations, who travel into a certain country in teams.
