The IPL GC is ready to meet on Saturday:
The Governing Council (GC) of Indian Premier League is ready to meet by teleconference on Saturday, followed by a meeting with their major stakeholders, owners of franchise, sponsors, and broadcasters on Sunday and Monday. In that meeting, all the final plans of IPL will be confirmed.
Brijesh Patel Confirmation:
Brijesh Patel, chairman of the IPL Governing Council said “In all these years of the Indian Premier League, whose responsibility includes hospitality, accommodation, travel, etc. has handled by the team owners. This year also, nothing will be changed. The only change happens in the SOPs because of COVID-19.”
The BCCI has also confirmed that they will share their IPL plans with media on Monday.
Bio-secure bubble:
In the bio-secure environment, strict regulations will be there. Every franchise will generate its own bio-secure bubble. In that bio-secure environment, the squad will only be discussing with limited numbers of individuals or with those individuals, allotted to them through BCCI. For BCCI & staff members of IMG, broadcasters, etc. also, the same kind of bubble will be generated. Nobody will be permitted to discuss with people outside their bio-secure bubble except appointed staff members.
Revenue Pools:
Since all the 60 IPL games are being played in the duration of 51 days, there will be no change in the BCCI ‘s revenue pool distribution.
Gate Money:
In case the IPL wouldn’t be organized, franchises wouldn’t expect any income.
Travel & Accommodation:
The respective franchise will need to arrange their own travel & accommodation in UAE. THE Indian Cricket Board, BCCI will coordinate with the authorities of UAE to ensure hotels at discounted rates and share the information with the franchises. Then it will be the discretion of the franchise to settle on those options given by BCCI or arrange their own things. Franchises will travel with their cricketers to UAE and back with them.
Media support:
Franchises will take care of their medical teams and the BCCI will arrange a central medical group. Once players as well as supporting staff reach UAE, the responsibility of testing will be handled by the franchise, who will coordinate with the central medical group of BCCI every time. The medical team of franchises will stay with their teams only in bio-secure bubble.
Player substitution & loaning:
As the last years of IPL, in this year also there will be no change in the policy of players and franchises will be free to fly with their chosen extra players to avoid last-minute travel.
The Governing Council as well as the BCCI are working on all these details to make a draft on these policies that will be discussed at the meeting of Saturday and then the decisions will be shared with the franchises.
