BCCI Plans To Schedule August-September Window For IPL

BCCI Is Considering The August-September Window To Hold IPL:

This year, the probability of happening Indian Premier League (IPL) seems very less but the BCCI is considering the period of August-September if the country gets back from the deadly coronavirus in time.

Earlier BCCI had postponed the IPL to 15th April instead of 29th March because of Coronavirus outbreak but by seeing the severity of the pandemic, chances of happening the league in April seem bleak.

As part of the emergency plans, the BCCI has kept the option for rescheduling the star league any time in between late August and early days of October (before the commencement of the T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in Australia).

But this depends upon the severity of the disease in the next four months. The organizing team of IPL will be considering all possibilities, starting from the overseas players’ participation to a shortened tournament with just Indian players. The Indian Premier League is a very important revenue creator for the BCCI and it is also essential for Indian cricket wellbeing.

A BCCI official said “All we organizing team are monitoring the circumstances closely and we will decide based upon that. Now, we are looking to August- September window for IPL.”

Previous Schedule Of India:

According to the original timetable, Asia Cup is scheduled to be played in September, which is hosted by England for three T20Is and three ODIs. Before T20 World Cup, the Indian team is also scheduled to be played three T20Is in Australia.  Three ODI matches with Zimbabwe is also set to be rescheduled to a later date.

As both the IPL and Asia Cup have the same broadcaster- Starports, the BCCI is hopeful of working off this emergency plan. But BCCI has to take the prime role in convincing ACC (Asian Cricket Council) for the postponement of the Asia Cup. In case the IPL is cancelled for the Asia Cup, the broadcasters would lose a lot.
