BCCI Likely To Give Option To Retain 3 Players In IPL 2022

BCCI has started looking into the rules of retaining players for the upcoming IPL 2022. It was decided earlier that every team can retain 2 players in the upcoming mega auction which will be taken place in the early months of 2022. Here is BCCI Allowed To Retain 3 Players In IPL 2022.

BCCI Allowed To Retain 3 Players In IPL 2022

It’s been more than 4 months when IPL was suspended indefinitely due to the COVID-19 second wave in India. Few players were tested positive and BCCI took the decision to postponed the tournament. The 2nd phase of the tournament will be conducted in UAE like the previous year.

A new meeting is been scheduled in Delhi regarding the retention policies and inclusion of new teams in the upcoming years. It is reported that 2 new teams will be involved in the future. The legal procedures are almost complete and new teams will be added anytime soon.

During the board meeting, it is been discussed that 3 players will be allowed to retain for every IPL franchise. The Right to match card option will also be in consideration but they’re not sure if 2 or 3 should be allowed.

Teams like Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Chennai Super Kings would like to retain at least 3 players as they’ve some great match-winners in the team and 2 players retaining policy will have a loss of some great players.

IPL 2021 will be resumed this year on 19th September and will be wrapped on 15th October. Overseas participation will be important as many Australians have opted out of the tournament and the Australian cricket board has given a right for the players – Where they want to be a part of the tournament or not.

Australian players faced some hard times as the AU government didn’t allow players to return back to the country. While West Indies, New Zealand, England, and South Africa have agreed to participate in the remaining matches of IPL 2021.

IPL schedule is yet to be released but the first match is decided to be played between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
