BCCI Contributes Towards PM’s Relief Fund To Fight Against Coronavirus

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday, in a brilliant gesture, pledged to donate Rs 51 crore in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic has wrought havoc all over the world, more than 20,000 people have succumbed since the deadly outbreak.

Condition In India On The Spread Of COVID 19:

India isn’t so promising either. While the Indian government has managed to keep the outbreak under control so far, more than 900 positive cases still exist so far. So far more than a dozen people have been killed in the country. Currently, the country is an incomplete lockdown in an effort to stop virus transmission.

And the BCCI has come up with a great initiative at a time when people around the country are in need of assistance. The world’s richest cricket body has declared that it will donate INR 51 crores to the Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES Fund) of the Prime Minister along with its associated state associations.

“The Coronavirus outbreak (COVID-1) is primarily a public health emergency, and the BCCI is firmly committed to helping the nation to cope with the testing times,” said BCCI in a statement.

Amount Contributed By BCCI:

“The BCCI will contribute to the initiative of Hon’ble Prime Minister which is a dedicated national fund (PM-CARES Fund) with the primary objective of coping with situations of emergency or distress.

Together with its state associations, the Board will continue to track and work closely with India’s government, state governments, and other state regulatory bodies, and are committed to helping the state machinery in the face of adversity, “the statement said.

The outbreak of the COVID 19 epidemic in India has shaken the complete Cricketing world in India and well as across the globe. It has led to the postponement of the much-awaited 13th edition of the IPL 2020 tournament, which has affected the economic structure of BCCI.
