BCB eager to sign Sanjay Bangar as Test match batting consultant

Sanjay Banger To Be Batting Consultant For Bangladesh:

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is looking to tie up with the former batting coach of India, Sanjay Banger as the batting consultant of the national team of Bangladesh, especially for red-ball cricket. BCB is hoping to get the guidance of the 47-year-old Sanjay Bangar ahead of the two-match Test series against the team of Australia at home, which is scheduled to be held in June.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board was expected to convince the former South African cricketer, Neil McKenzie who is now appointed as a white-ball consultant of the Bangladesh National Cricket team to widen his roles & responsibilities to the longer format but the right-handed opening batsman is not interested in the coach all the three formats regularly.

Nizamuddin Chowdhury Statement:

The chief executive of BCB, Nizamuddin Chowdhury said to the reporters on 18th March (Wednesday) that “For being the Test batting consultant, we are discussing with Sanjay Bangar but till now nothing has finalized. Also, we are consulting with some others for the post of the Test batting consultant.”

Also, he added that “Neil McKenzie is taking care of red-ball cricket of the team in spite of being a consultant of white-ball and until we get a Test-cricket batting consultant, we hope that he would also continue to do the job in the red ball.

Sanjay Bangar’s Work With Indian Team:

Between the years 2014 and 2019, Sanjay Bangar worked with a team of India. In 2016 and 2017, on the Zimbabwe tours and West-Indies tour, he was appointed as the interim coach of the team. After the last year’s World Cup, Ravi Shastri was appointed as the head coach but Bangar didn’t receive an extension of his contract and replaced by Vikram Rathour.

As per the reports from BCB insiders, if both sides have agreed to work together, then Sanjay Bangar is expected to be contracted from 2020 June to 2021 January, for 110 days.
