Team Australia head coach Justin Langer will be taking a short break when his team will move to India for the upcoming three-match ODI series. Senior assistant Andrew McDonald will be handling the team in his absence for the three ODIs. This will happen to be the first assignment as the leading head coach of the national side.
New Head Coach For Team Australia
Sydney Morning Herald has quoted Langer by saying, “He is of the finest coach, we have other excellent coaches to replace him in his absence.”
“I am very confident in our coaching staff now with the cricket side of things. Usually, I think about the cricket-like 30 percent of the time and the left overtimes with all the other stuff that goes with it as the bigger picture, the cultural stuff,” Langer stated.
When team Australia was under the guidance of Langer, the team defeated the Pakistan team with 2-0 and then went on to New Zealand with 3-0 in the two-Test series. But now this will be challenging for Team India by the hosts, who are presently associated in a limited-overs series.
“Whenever we take on Team India, it will be a tough series because they are very strong opposition. They have got great batsmen and bowlers, so it will be going to be a challenge,” Marnus Labuschagne, who was the star performer with the bat in the Test series, he was quoted by Cricket Australia website. “But as a player, you will always want to examine yourself against the best opponent in the toughest conditions, and there is nothing tougher than India in India.”
He has completed his tour of India with Team Australia A side in 2018 and he told that he would pick some of the sensible players for his teammates who have visited India for IPL matches and many international tours. “If I get a chance that would be great. Luckily I have a good experience with Aaron Finch, David Warner, Steve Smith … to continue to learn from those guys is great.” Labuschagne added.
